North Platte

River

Class II – Class IV

The North Platte River begins its journey in the mountains near Walden, Colorado and soon flows into the Northgate Wilderness area through the narrow Northgate Canyon. Northgate begins at over 8,000 feet in elevation and drops 470 feet over 18 miles. This provides a scenic run through intese Class III-IV rapids. The seclusion of this majestic wilderness river not only provides beautiful scenery and fun rapids, but also some amazing fishing with the prime season being in mid-July to early August. The North Platte is accessible from Fort Collins, Steamboat Springs and Laramie, Wyoming.
