Colorado

Upper River

Class II – Class V

Near its headwaters, the mighty Colorado River includes the Class V Gore Canyon stretch and the mild, Class II Upper Colorado. Both sections flow through the north-central part of the state, making them accessible to paddlers from Granby to Steamboat Springs to Vail to Summit County. Gore Canyon provides the ultimate challenge in commercial rafting in Colorado. Located in a remote wilderness canyon, it is only for the most serious and experienced paddlers. In contrast, the mild “Upper Colorado” offers scenic float trips for families and paddlers of all ages. Rafters will enjoy smaller rapids and relaxing flatwater as the river winds through the beautiful Gore Range.
